Breakfast at the farmhouse followed by departure for the daily tour, which touches several picturesque locations on the road to the lowest point of the “heel”: Santa Maria di Leuca.

Tour highlights:

An important Messapian seaport during the classical age, Torre San Giovanni is now a sought-after tourist destination with posh resorts and a lively promenade. A few kilometres south, the 16th-century tower of Torre Mazza watches over the pristine white shores.

The wild and lustrous Mediterranean flora of Torre Pali leads to the dazzling golden shores of Pescoluce, known as the Maldives of Salento for their exotic look and appeal. Moving away from the seaside, we’ll drive through Torre San Gregorio – whose eponymous tower is now a private mansion – to reach Santa Maria di Leuca with its iconic 48.6-metre lighthouse (erected in 1866), the Sanctuary De Finibus Terrae and the Corinthian Column. On the way back to Ugento, we’ll stop by the village of Presicce, with its peculiar maze of narrow roads hiding remains of ancient underground oil mills.

Dinner at the farmhouse with a selection of regional delicacies.

Breakfast at the farmhouse and departure for the daily tour: an exploration of the breathtaking natural wonders of the Adriatic coastline of Salento.

Tour highlights:

Starting in Otranto, the tour includes a selection of historical landmarks such as Porto Badisco – said to be the place where Aeneas first touched land after fleeing from Troy – and the caves of Castro Marina, which bear witness to the area’s Palaeolithic inhabitants. The Zinzulusa Cave (accessible by land) is known for its peculiar limestone concretions that resemble silhouettes of linen cloth hanging in the sun (called zinzuli in the local dialect). In the afternoon, a guided tour of the castle in Castro and free time.
